Planning International Travel? Protect Your Health Before You Leave.

Heading out on an adventure, business trip, or family vacation? CareCentral Urgent Care provides comprehensive Travel Medicine Consultations to help ensure your trip is safe, healthy, and worry-free. Our medical team will review your itinerary, evaluate destination-specific health risks, and provide appropriate prescriptions and vaccination recommendations tailored to your trip.

Please Note: For optimal protection, we recommend visiting CareCentral at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to your departure. Some travel vaccines and preventive medications (such as malaria prophylaxis) require time to take full effect or must be started days or weeks before travel.

What We Offer

Our travel health services are designed to give you peace of mind before you depart. During your travel medicine consultation, our providers offer:

  • Personalized Travel Health Consultation: Detailed health evaluation based on your specific destination(s), travel duration, planned activities, and personal medical history.
  • Malaria Risk Assessment & Prescriptions: Determination of malaria transmission risk along your itinerary and prescriptions for malaria prevention medications when indicated.
  • Travel Vaccine Recommendations: Comprehensive review of your immunization history and personalized recommendations for routine updates and destination-specific travel vaccines.
  • Traveler’s Diarrhea Prevention & Guidance: Recommendations and self-treatment protocols to prevent and manage travel-related illness.
  • Flat-Rate Fee: We offer a simple flat-rate fee for all travel counseling consultations.

How to Get Seen

Travel medicine consultations are available on a walk-in basis only at all CareCentral Urgent Care locations.

No appointment is necessary – simply walk in to any of our clinics at your convenience. Patients are registered and seen in the order in which they arrive. Want to save time? Check in online before you head to the clinic.

When to Seek Medical Care

If you develop a fever, severe diarrhea, persistent vomiting, or difficulty breathing during or after your trip, seek medical care promptly.

  • Important: Any fever following travel to a malaria-risk destination should be evaluated immediately as a potential medical emergency until malaria is ruled out.

Essential Travel Safety Tips

In addition to your pre-travel consultation, keep these key CDC safety guidelines in mind while traveling abroad:

  • Food & Water Safety: Drink bottled, sealed, or appropriately treated water. Avoid ice from unknown water sources, and eat foods that are cooked thoroughly and served hot. Peel fruits personally whenever possible.
  • Mosquito & Insect Protection: Mosquitoes can transmit malaria, dengue, Zika, and other diseases. Use EPA-registered insect repellents, wear long sleeves and pants, and stay in screened or air-conditioned accommodations.
  • Medication Safety: Carry all medications in their original labeled containers with enough extra supply for travel delays. Bring a written list of your current medications and dosages.
  • Animal Safety: Avoid touching or feeding local animals, including dogs, monkeys, and bats. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience an animal bite or scratch.
